I am constantly telling my husband and kids that “the key to ______ is this and that”, and after a while, I realized that they started repeating me. Now, in jest or for real, I don’t know. Apparently with two teenagers, nothing you say is correct. Anyway, I am on a journey to find the key to make everything the best that it can be.
The key to using your time wisely would be wonderful! If you look on the internet or Pinterest, there are so many posts about how to make the best use of your time. Some of my favorites.....get up 30 minutes early every morning to clear out what you have to get accomplished that day. Nice thought, I can’t even get up on time....so that’s out for me. Get everything tidied up at night and ready for the next morning so you won’t be rushing around. Sounds great, but I’m usually taking a bath and falling into bed around 11:00 p.m. WITHOUT doing all of that! And my favorite.....Make a list of everything you need to do, keep it with you and mark it off as you get it done. Ok, let me totally honest here. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to make lists. Grocery lists, lists of chores to do, lists of things to pack for vacation, lists of gifts I need to buy, lists, lists, lists. Guess what....I LOSE EVERY LIST!!! There is a commercial out right now that says grocery lists are great if you can remember to bring them to the store with you.....my life in one sentence.
So, I may be fighting a losing battle on the time thing. I’ve decided that to make the most of my time I am going to enjoy what I am doing at that time. If I am making dinner or cleaning the kitchen, I am going to be thankful I have food on the table and a nice place to cook in. If I am doing laundry, I am going to enjoy the fact that A) I have a washer and dryer! And B) I have clothes for myself and my family. If I am carting my kids here and there all of the time, I am going to enjoy those times I have them stuck in that car with me where they have to listen! One thing for sure, is that time is finite for everyone. You will never get another day back and you can only look forward. So I’m thinking that the key to managing my time better.......is enjoying every second I have!!
