There is a story behind this punch..... My sister and I had this punch a very long time ago at either a baby shower or a bridal shower-it was that long ago that I can’t remember. We had one glass of this stuff and I think I do remember that we embarrassingly drank way more than half! We talked about this punch for weeks and finally got the recipe. We decided that we didn’t need a “special occasion” to make the punch and set off on a mission. I think we made ourselves sick.....but it must not have been too bad because we are still drinking it and talking about it. And it’s so simple to make with ingredients that most people have at their fingertips. There really is no prep except making the coffee....which is instant!
It’s something about the taste of coffee (that people usually drink hot) and the ice cream (that is cold) that make the perfect blend. It’s a match made in heaven! Enjoy!
2oz of instant coffee
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
1/2 gallon chocolate ice cream
1 gallon milk
- Bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add instant coffee and sugar; let cool.
- Combine vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream and coffee mixture to taste (I usually use 1/2-3/4; my sister is a veteran coffee drinker, she goes with the whole thing!)
- Pour gallon of milk over coffee mixture and ice cream and enjoy!
I usually pull the ice cream out about 30 minutes before assembly so it can soften.
Assemble punch right before serving.
**If you like whipped cream, feel free to top with whipped cream!
