Know what today is??? IT’S NATIONAL DONUT DAY!!! O.M.G.! We should all be able to go in to work late today JUST so we can get our donuts! Now, look, I am a Registered Dietitian, I know donuts aren’t necessarily good for you…..but they are so GOOD!! Hence my philosophy to eat what you love in moderate amounts. I have spent literally my entire life trying to lose weight eating what I thought and had been taught “should” help me lose weight. It was a complete fail. Want to know why?....probably not, but here goes….I would plan all these great meals that were healthy and good for you with very little calories, prepare them, and eat them! Then, I just never felt satisfied, so it wouldn’t be long before I was looking for something else to “snack” on. Well, snacking is good, but not all day, especially if you are eating big meals too! It all still boils down to the fact that if you intake more calories in than you expend = WEIGHT GAIN! And have I mentioned that I have a really, really bad sweet tooth? I say I get it from the Lee side of my family because my dad can put away some chocolate, but so can Marietta (my sweet Mama). So I guess that means I got a double whammy. So, long story short, healthy meals, unhealthy snacks AND sweets here and there ended in pounds on, not pounds off! I have gotten off track when all I really wanted to say today was, moderation is key, AND HAVE A DONUT!!! Gotta go get mine!.....BRB!
