So, I must admit that I am not a big smoothie lover. But, I've been eating cereal for lunch for almost two years because it's low in calories and mostly super quick and convenient so I don't have to spend my entire lunch hour pulling out leftovers, plating them up, heating them up and on and on.
I work a VERY busy job....like go all day, all the time. I love my job, but when I come home for lunch, I literally want to sit and chill....I don't want to reheat food and do dishes....so I started eating cereal and it was fantastic! I literally spend 2 minutes fixing it, eat my cereal and either play a game on my phone, troll social media, or talk to my sister on the phone for an hour (and apologize everyday for crunching cereal in her ear!!).
Anyway, my ADHD AGAIN!!! I was thinking that maybe I could eat a smoothie every now and then, and I go back to work on Monday so started my experiment today.
O.M.G. (I know I say that all the time) but it was sooo good. And, it was so pretty!! And it was so good!!! So I was so glad it was so good, because I would've been terrible upset if it was so pretty and NO GOOD!!!
Also, I use the NINJA, BLENDER/FOOD PROCESSOR, to make my smoothies. I had a blender, but I have found that the Ninja just blends everything better. In a blender, the blades are just at the bottom, but in a Ninja, the blades are all the way through the center of the pitcher. It’s quite fascinating can you tell? lol! Another thing I LOVE about the Ninja, and especially the set that I have linked, is that it comes with different size pitchers AND it includes a lid to go on it. So, when I’m in a rush, make a smoothie, don’t drink it all, I just pop the top on the pitcher and stick it in the fridge!! It’s amazing! (At least in my world this is amazing!) I have added a picture of the Ninja that I purchased, at the end of this post.
Here is the recipe and I, of course altered the original recipe, because that's what I do!!! The original recipe calls for 1 frozen banana, but I don't love bananas, but more than that, I didn't have a banana!!!! Next time I make it, I will include the banana...so here is the recipe with the banana, and I will write at the bottom how I made it without the banana!
MIXED BERRY SMOOTHIE
Makes: 2 servings
- 1 banana, sliced, frozen
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup skim milk
- honey to taste
- Combine frozen bananas, frozen berries, yogurt and milk
- Blend well in blender/smoothie maker
- Add honey to taste
